Collections Initiative ProjectTraining Sessions and Meetings
Thursday, September 26, 2002, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The second statewide meeting will discuss collection safety and control and each museum's promise to keep its collection for the future to the best of its ability. The day will be divided into two sections: In the morning identifying risks to the collection and staff and causes of damage will be emphasized. This will include hands-on condition photography and reporting. In the afternoon, role-playing will cover avoiding radioactive waste and other challenges. This problem-solving session will cover NAGPRA, insurance options, legal challenges and intellectual control issues presented during the six sessions. A final evaluation session will be held as part of the second meeting.
