Organized in 1991 to provide a forum for peer assistance, the Alliance is dedicated to "Peers Helping Peers."

Workshops and Conferences
The ALLIANCE hosts a spring conference and fall workshop/annual meeting. Each meeting is geared towards topics of need for small and medium-sized museums. Suggestions for workshop sessions are always welcome. If you have an idea, thought, or suggestion, contact one of the ALLIANCE board members.

- October 1992: Inagural MAHLM Conference. Included sessions on copyright law, collections identification, and lighting conservation. Stearns County Museum, St. Cloud.
- October 1993: Government Relations, Understanding Color In Exhibits, & Cataloguing Procedures. Goodhue County Historical Society, Red Wing.
- May 1994: Museum Lighting & Exhibit Design. Runestone Museum, Alexandria.
